We’d Love To Welcome You To Our Smart Community

ASCA has developed a membership structure and fee schedule designed to be fair, equitable, and valuable for all members. Our approach supports not only cities and regions, but also private sector organisations and NGOs within our smart community ecosystem.

We’re committed to actively engaging our members and encourage you to participate, collaborate, and take full advantage of your membership benefits.

For more information before joining, please explore the quick-links below and read the ASCA Members Code of Conduct at the bottom of this page:

The Application Process

NOTE: While you can opt out of general ASCA news in the application form or via any emails we send you, you’ll need to remain subscribed to member-specific communications to receive important information about your membership and access key member benefits. Please avoid unsubscribing entirely, as doing so will mean that you’ll no longer receive vital communications regarding your membership. Instead, indicate your communication preferences via the application form or by updating your preferences at the bottom of any ASCA email.

ASCA Members Code of Conduct

ASCA’s primary membership base has historically been the government sector, with a particular focus on Local Government who are usually at the front line in developing and fostering Smart Communities.

ASCA however recognises the important role that the private sector plays by developing new technologies and driving innovation to support continuous improvement. ASCA also recognises that Smart City professionals are likely to move between organisations during their career, and the whole sector can benefit by having highly skilled, knowledgeable and well networked professionals working across all areas. As such, ASCA welcomes members from all sectors and organisations on the common understanding that the aim of becoming an ASCA member is to share peer-to-peer knowledge, create networks and collectively help to raise the skills and competence of Smart Communities professionals across Australia.

We strongly encourage members to network, and build relationships with other members from across Australia. However, ASCA members should not use their membership as an opportunity to market or promote products and solutions to other ASCA members.

There will be regular event sponsorship opportunities where those promotional opportunities will be provided. The ASCA Board reserves the right to suspend and/or cancel memberships in the instance where the peer-to-peer relationship of our members has been taken advantage of for commercial purposes.

ASCA Association Model Rules

In a General Meeting of members in October 2024 the ASCA Board adopted revisions to the Association Model Rules. These rules govern how the association operates and provide a clear oversight on the purpose of the association.
